Leading SEO Agency for Landscaping Companies
Landscaping is really two businesses, and their customers search in different ways. A homeowner who wants the lawn cut every week is hiring a route, usually after collecting two or three quotes. A homeowner planning a patio, an irrigation system or a full backyard redesign is buying a project and comparing portfolios for weeks. HomeAdvisor (June 2026) puts lawn care at about $123 per visit, with monthly packages of $100 to $300, while NerdWallet, citing Angi (February 2026), puts the average landscaping project at about $3,650 and major projects at $3,000 to $80,000 or more. A recurring account and a design-build job need different pages, different Google Business Profile choices and different keywords, yet most landscaping websites treat them as one.
The market is large and crowded. NALP, citing IBISWorld, sizes US landscape services at $188.8B in 2025 across 692,777 businesses. NALP's 2025 benchmark of 142 firms found a median of 355 customers per firm, with contract value up 9% per maintenance account and 13% per installation job compared with 2023. Labor sets the calendar: landscaping and groundskeeping workers were 89,013 of 232,434 certified H-2B positions in FY2025, the top occupation, and employers requested 162,603 positions for April 1, 2026 starts against a 33,000 half-year cap. Spring is when crews are hired and when homeowners start searching, so your visibility has to be in place before it arrives.
DM. Digital puts landscaping companies in organic results, the map pack and AI answers on ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Copilot and Google AI Overviews. It starts with the right primary category: "Lawn care service" for route-based maintenance companies, "Landscaper" for project-based firms, and "Landscape designer" only when design is a real offer. We hide the address for service-area businesses, keep service areas realistic and keep keywords out of the business name. On the website we build separate pages for maintenance, lawn treatment and design-build, plus project galleries with real photos, because a homeowner comparing patio contractors wants to see finished work. Weekly Google Business Profile posts, review generation, citations and backlinks complete the monthly engagement.
Landscaping copy carries more legal risk than most owners realize. Under FIFRA, 40 CFR 156.10 bars calling a pesticide "safe," "harmless" or "nontoxic to humans and pets," even with "when used as directed," and EPA says ad claims must not differ from the label, noting that "natural" and "organic" can be safety claims. The FTC Green Guides warn against unqualified "eco-friendly" or "green." In California, licensed contractors must show their license number in all advertising (B&P 7030.5), and since January 1, 2025 unlicensed work is limited to jobs under $1,000 that need no permit or employees. Florida requires a pesticide license for lawn treatment, and Arizona's ROC licenses hardscaping and irrigation. DM. Digital writes your service pages, posts and lawn treatment copy so they sell without creating liability.
Landscaping companies begin at a $5,000 monthly budget. Call (775) 843-8004 before the spring rush and Dan Milstein will audit how your company appears in search and AI answers.

How Customers Search for Landscaping Companies
Landscaping demand is large and sharply seasonal. Ahrefs estimates yearly averages of about 73,000 to 110,000 US monthly searches for "landscaping near me" between 2022 and 2024, about 29,000 to 37,000 for "landscape design" and about 5,300 to 6,500 for "lawn care service." From 2019 to 2024, "landscaping near me" was usually busiest in April, May and June and slowest in January, November and December, with the busiest month typically about 5 times the slowest. "Lawn care service" peaked a month earlier, in March, April and May, at about 4 times its slowest month. Pages and profiles need to be ranking by late winter, not built in April.
The search results split by intent. In an Ahrefs check of 6 landscaping searches in October 2026, a Google map pack appeared on 4 and AI Overviews appeared on 3, including "landscape design," "hardscaping" and "landscaping cost." The "near me" search showed no AI Overview. WebFX's July 2025 study of 237,990 US home services queries points the same way: AI Overviews appeared on 37.1% of informational queries but only 12.2% of queries with a location modifier. Hiring searches run through the map pack, while cost, design and process questions are where AI answers appear.
Owners are looking for help as well. Ahrefs (October 2026) estimates about 1,300 US monthly searches for "landscaping seo," about 1,200 for "seo for landscapers" and about 600 for "landscaping marketing."
Why Landscaping Need Us
Common SEO Challenges for Landscaping Companies
Maintenance and design-build work compete on one generic services page
DM. Digital builds separate pages for weekly maintenance, lawn treatment and design-build projects, each written for how that customer searches, so a $123 lawn care visit and a $3,650 landscaping project stop competing for the same keywords.
Spring demand arrives before your pages and profile are ready
Searches for "landscaping near me" typically peak from April to June at about 5 times the slowest month (Ahrefs, 2019 to 2024). DM. Digital builds and updates seasonal pages and posts in late winter so your visibility is in place first.
Lawn treatment copy uses "pet safe," "organic" or "eco-friendly" claims
Federal rules bar calling a pesticide "safe" or "nontoxic to humans and pets," and the FTC Green Guides warn against unqualified "eco-friendly." DM. Digital writes treatment pages that describe your products and process accurately, without claims that create liability.
Paid search leads are expensive for landscapers
LocaliQ's 2025 benchmarks put the median landscaping cost per lead at $117.92 and cost per click at $8.76. DM. Digital grows your map and organic rankings, which bring in calls with no per-click charge.
The wrong Google Business Profile category and an exposed home address
DM. Digital sets "Lawn care service" or "Landscaper" as the primary category based on how you actually sell, adds "Landscape designer" only for real design work, hides the address for service-area businesses and keeps keywords out of your business name.

Show Up in AI Search for Landscaping Companies
There is no landscaper-specific AI citation study, so service business data is the best guide. BrightLocal's August 2026 study of 1,355 locations across AI Overviews, AI Mode and ChatGPT found that in the broad Services sector, Google drew 45% of citations, Yelp 12.30%, Facebook 4.40%, BBB 1.60%, Angi's List 1.40% and Houzz 0.70%. For a landscaping company, that list works as a checklist, because every one of those is a profile you control.
The industry has barely started. Aspire's 2025 report of more than 1,000 commercial landscaping professionals found 83% of companies were not using AI. Homeowners still decide on proof: in a vendor survey of 500 homeowners reported by RealGreen by WorkWave (updated March 2026), referrals drove 33% of new business and Google 24%, and testimonials ranked first as a selection factor.
DM. Digital builds AI visibility by keeping your Google Business Profile, Yelp, Houzz, Angi and BBB profiles complete and consistent, publishing cost and design content that AI answers can quote, and marking up your site with HomeAndConstructionBusiness schema, since schema.org has no landscaping-specific type. Monthly reports compare your AI mentions with calls and site visits.

Landscaping SEO Agency FAQs
Choose by how you sell. "Lawn care service" fits route-based maintenance companies, while "Landscaper" fits project-based design and installation firms. Add "Landscape designer" only if design is a real offer, and avoid "Landscape architect" unless you hold that license. DM. Digital sets this up and reviews it as your service mix changes.
They can, and much of what they use is in your control. No landscaping-specific citation study exists, but BrightLocal's August 2026 study of service businesses found Google drew 45% of AI citations, followed by Yelp, Facebook, BBB, Angi's List and Houzz. DM. Digital keeps those profiles complete and consistent, publishes content AI answers can quote and tracks your AI mentions every month. The AI tools still decide who they recommend.
Before spring. From 2019 to 2024, Ahrefs data shows "lawn care service" searches usually peak in March, April and May and "landscaping near me" in April, May and June, with the busiest month about 4 to 5 times the slowest. Rankings take time to build, so new pages and profile updates should be live by late winter.
Be careful. Federal rules (40 CFR 156.10) bar calling a pesticide "safe," "harmless" or "nontoxic to humans and pets," even with "when used as directed," and EPA notes that "natural" and "organic" can be safety claims. For-hire lawn treatment also needs pesticide licensing in states like Florida and California. DM. Digital writes treatment pages that stay accurate to the product label.
If you are licensed, yes. B&P 7030.5 requires the license number in all forms of advertising, and that includes your website and Google Business Profile. Since January 1, 2025, unlicensed work in California is limited to jobs under $1,000 that need no permit or employees, while routine gardening like mowing, weeding and trimming generally needs no license. DM. Digital displays your license number wherever it is required.
No. On October 20, 2025, Google replaced Google Guaranteed with a single Google Verified badge and ended its money back guarantee, so pages that still show the old badge are out of date. For Local Services Ads in the Landscaping services, Lawn care and Tree service categories, Google lists background checks, insurance and licenses where local law requires them, plus a verified Google Business Profile.
